This explains what Sotto collects, why, where it goes, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
- Account: your email, a scrambled (hashed) password, and your time zone.
- Glasses: a random device key, and when it was last used.
- Audio: streamed from your glasses' microphone straight to our speech-to-text provider only while you are in a session you started. We never store audio.
- Text: the transcript of those sessions, and what Sotto wrote from it (notes on the lens, quizzes and your answers, study notes).
- Courses: what you type about your courses, and the pre-reads we write from it.
- Usage: how many minutes you listened and how many words the AI wrote, to run your plan.
- Website visits: the page and a random id your browser keeps. No cookies and no advertising trackers.
Why
Only to run the service for you: transcribe your classes, write what appears on your lens, keep your notes, and bill your plan. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
Other people's voices
Transcripts contain what other people in the room said. We keep them for 30 days and then delete them, keep them private to your account, and never use them for anything else. See Recording & consent.
Who processes it
Our providers are listed on Subprocessors, each on paid terms that do not let them train AI on your data.
How long
- Transcripts: 30 days.
- Notes, quizzes, study notes, courses: until you delete them or your account.
- Website visit records: 13 months.
Your choices
- Export everything as one file, from your account page.
- Forget the last minutes of a session.
- Delete your account, which deletes everything at once.
- Stop a session or pause listening from the glasses at any time.
Security
Encrypted in transit. Each person's data is walled off at the database level, so one account cannot read another's.
Children
Sotto is for adults (18+).
Permissions on the glasses
Microphone: only during a session you start, to transcribe it. Network: to reach our service.
